Purchases from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029 qualify. The break does not appear at the register. It is a refund of sales tax you already paid, claimed later with the required forms and receipts. The home must be site-built, carry a homestead exemption, and have a just value of $700,000 or less. One property per owner, and the refund caps at $500. Claims run through September 30, 2029, so keep the paperwork.
Boca Raton opens a gopher tortoise preserve
The city has opened a gopher tortoise preserve, built with The Institute for Regional Conservation and local volunteers. Gopher tortoises are the quiet landlords of Florida scrub. Their burrows shelter dozens of other species, so setting land aside for them protects far more than tortoises. The city's Wildflower in Bloom series is winding down at 551 East Palmetto Park Road. Pilates in the Park runs 9 to 10 a.m. and continues through August 29. The yoga session keeps the same hour and runs through August 30. That is roughly two weeks left on a program that has been going since January.
