City meetings stack up next week, a free art talk lands tonight, and magic returns to Mizner this Friday.
Boca Raton's civic calendar fills up at the end of next week, with three public sessions across two days. The Community Redevelopment Agency meets Monday, July 27, at 1:30 p.m., and a City Council workshop is scheduled to begin immediately afterward that same afternoon. The council then holds its regular meeting Tuesday, July 28, at 6:00 p.m. All three sessions take place in person at the 6500 Building and Administration offices at 6500 Congress Avenue. Residents who can't attend can watch live on the city's website, Facebook, and YouTube, or tune in on Comcast Channel 20, AT&T U-verse Channel 99, and Hotwire Channel 395. The CRA meeting and council workshop land back-to-back on Monday afternoon, followed by the full council meeting the next evening. The Boca Raton Museum of Art hosts On Collecting Knowledge tonight, Thursday, July 23, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Javier Martin and Austria Ulloa, the founders of the 404 Art Collection, sit down with curator-at-large Dr. Ross Karlan for a conversation centered on the artist Frédéric Bruly Bouabré. City offers 150 free E-bike safety courses for resident teens
The City of Boca Raton is offering 150 free online E-bike safety courses for city resident teenagers ages 12 to 19, framed as a back-to-school checklist item as more students ride E-bikes to and from school. The self-paced program runs through short video lessons and quick knowledge checks across four sections — knowing your equipment, driving your E-bike, avoiding crashes, and riding with friends — and awards a certificate on completion. Spots are limited and open only to teens who live inside city limits, which the city notes is not the same as simply having a Boca mailing address. Boca Museum's summer art sessions enter their final weeks
A few weeks of the Boca Raton Museum of Art's summer studio sessions remain, and the museum has added new classes for young artists as the final stretch fills up. The newly added offerings include Contemporary Art, Illustration: Ink and Washes, Printmaking and Sculpture, and Paint Your World. The Illustration: Ink and Washes class, built for ages 13 to 18 and taught by Nancy Handler, meets weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
