Fifty rescued chihuahuas up for adoption in West Boca Raton

Tri-County Animal Rescue accepting applications after Tennessee hoarding rescue

Tri-County Animal Rescue in West Boca Raton is accepting adoption applications for some of the 50 chihuahuas it rescued from a Tennessee hoarding situation in late May. Staff traveled to a property housing approximately 140 dogs, where a woman with dementia had kept them in filthy conditions. Many of the dogs, some as old as 10 or 11, had never been outside or held by a human. Nearly every dog has significant dental decay, and many arrived covered in fleas needing immediate medical care. Staff and volunteers have been providing oatmeal baths, warm meals, and around-the-clock attention. The shelter is reviewing applications but is not yet scheduling meet-and-greets. Applications are available at tricountyanimalrescue.org or by emailing tricountyfrontdesk@gmail.com. The rescue at 21287 Boca Rio Road is also seeking donated cleaning supplies, dog beds, dog toys, and volunteers.
